Last Tuesday night, Jessica and I met at the Shopko for kids eye appointments. Conner was at academic bowl and called half way through to say he was done, so I left with two of the little girls and Harrison to go get him.

As we were heading back to Shopko, We turned the corner and headed down Caldwell Blvd to go back to Shopko. We signaled to get into the turn lane and without any reactionary time, a Tahoe pulled out in front of me.

I don't remember too much of it. It is kind of a blur. What I do remember is realizing that I was going to hit the guy and diving over to the passenger side to protect the kids. After that, I remember the jolt and I remember sitting up and rolling down my window. I also remember Conner reacting very fast!

As soon as it happened, he saw the powder in the car and thought it was on fire! When I regained consciousness, he (Conner) was out of the car and working quickly to get everyone out! I am so proud of how level headed he (Conner) was - especially for a 12 year old that was just in an accident that serious.

My face was burned from the chemicals in the airbags...and I was up coughing all night. I had a big knock on his head and an abrasion . After the swelling went down, i was left with 2 big black eyes that just get worse every day. The airbags literally exploded the glasses off of my face. It also knocked me out for a moment and gave me a concussion.

Conner has a big lump on his head. Harrison is OK.thank goodness for seat belts!

I am very grateful that I was in the lane I was in. If I had been over one lane to the left, the guy would have hit us instead, and he would have hit right where Conner and Harrison were sitting.I went and looked at the car today. I didn’t realized how bad it was until i saw it. The steering wheel was pushed back right where my chest was. I am so grateful that we had airbags-or there is no knowing how seriously hurt he might have been.

This is what I looked like today:

Ok so i got up this morning, got the kids up and ready for school as normal and went back to bed this morning. The next thing i know, my wife is waking me up to ask if it is okay that we had the baby this morning...

So...here I sit ...in the hospital room watching my wife shivering on the bed because she just got her Epidural...watching her progress slowly this time (slowly as in 2 hours instead of 1 hour!)

And my kids are freakin driving me crazy!!!

What a fabulous week it has been! We just spent most of our week at Redfish Lake Resort, right outside of Stanley. The weather was great, the cabins were awesome, the lake was very cold, and the animals were right up at our front door.

Supermarkets

Have you ever noticed when you go to certain grocery stores...wal-mart...how it seems like they are just in it for themselves.

Business is about 3 things...
1. doing it right for your stockholders (after all they believe in you)
2. doing it right for your company (after all, everyone wants to turn a profit)
3 doing it right for your customers (i think they forgot about us)

30 lines available, 12 open, and 10 of those that are open are express...

if you happen to have a big family, like we do, you have the choice of 2 lines...

IT MAKES ME WANT TO SCREAM!

Daily Thoughts

What if we lived in a world where we focused on all of the positive things,
would we know sadness?
What if we lived in a world where we saw only the good things in a person,
would we live as one?
What if we loved and accepted unconditionally,
would we have strife?
What if we looked beyond the color of skin, the language that another spoke, or the wear of life,
would we want for anything?
What if we forgave and forgot without a second thought,
would we be forgiven?
What if we supported or picked up another,
would we be whole?

Life is full of many turns in the road, the paths that we choose to take make us the men and women that we are, and the men and women that we can become.

Do we look for the best path??

Another Week Gone

Well, another week has come and gone, and the next is about to begin. It's hard to believe that the older you get, the faster time seems to fly by...

So a quick recap of my week:

Work

  • yeah...I'm not going to touch that one right now.

Home

  • We weeded the garden on Saturday...it's amazing how fast the weeds grow. I am still hoping that our carrots and onions will come up...
  • We took Jessica to the hospital this afternoon...she is having gall bladder problems...and of course, because we took her to a smaller hospital in Caldwell, and their Doppler wasn't working...they couldn't find the baby's heartbeat...yet another stresser
  • Of course, money is always tight, and while we have enough, we seem to squeak by every month without falling behind. It's toughest on the kids because we cannot always do the fun things that they would like to do.
  • I started working on the family history again and i think that i am about 48 hours away from getting that which i can from the churches online records...then the fun will begin. I have traced one of our lines back to 6 AD.

Personal

  • Well, there's not much to say...i would love to go back to school and finish my degree...i just don't have the time or the money to do it right now.
  • Conner is stating to get into scouts, and i wish that i could be more involved...

Well, that' s about all for this last week...
